sodium does most of the sweat work
Sodium is the main electrolyte lost in sweat and the central number for long hot exercise. It supports fluid balance and nerve function. Loss varies through both sweat rate and concentration.
Potassium and magnesium matter to normal physiology, but their sweat losses and race-day roles are not identical to sodium.
how to read an electrolyte product
Check milligrams per serving, then convert to the amount you will actually consume per hour. Count gels, drink, capsules and food together.
