extensive FAQ

answers, to your questions.

everything you need to know about 2THRV, the gel, shipping, subscriptions, and what to expect.

01PRODUCT

most gels are built like convenience products. quick to manufacture. cheap to scale. easy to market. then the athlete deals with the fallout.

2THRV is built from the opposite angle. the ingredients need to make sense first. the fuel needs to perform under effort. and it needs to feel like something you would actually want in your body more than once.

that is the difference. performance without the usual nonsense.

built for performance. built like food.

because the category got comfortable selling compromise as normal.

train for your health. sleep for recovery. spend thousands on shoes, coaching, and blood work. then on race day, tear open a packet full of syrup, gums, preservatives, and ingredients you would never touch anywhere else.

that made no sense. so 2THRV was built to fix that.

the problem was never energy. it was what you had to eat to get it.

2THRV is for people who care what goes into their body and refuse to accept that poor ingredients are “just part of performance.”

whether you run, ride, train, or just want better fuel, it is built for people who want something that works without compromising what is inside it.

fuel for the uncompromising.

no. 2THRV is for anyone who wants better fuel.

you do not need to be an elite athlete to care about what you put in your body. if you train, move, or just want cleaner performance fuel, 2THRV is for you.

serious standards beat status.

no.

long-course triathlon is where this kind of product gets pressure tested hardest, but the use case is bigger than that. long runs, long rides, hyrox prep, hard gym sessions, hikes, football, and hot days all fit.

proven in the hardest endurance conditions. useful far beyond them.

like actual food.

light, fresh, and slightly berry-forward.

you get a bit of natural sweetness from the maple and dates, then the berries and lemon keep it clean and not overly sweet.

if you are used to candy-style gels, this will taste more grounded.

real ingredients usually taste more real. good.

smooth and easy to take.

it is thinner than a lot of traditional gels, so it comes out easily and goes down without needing water straight away. no thick paste, no chunks, no sticky mouthfeel.

we are not trying to make goo. we are trying to make fuel.

because intensity changes what is practical.

a gel is easy to carry, easy to open, easy to take quickly, and easier to use when breathing hard.

bars and whole foods can work, but they are slower to eat, harder to chew, and often sit heavier in your stomach. a gel gives you the energy you need without breaking your rhythm.

use the right format for the job.

each gel has about 120 calories. enough to give you real energy without feeling heavy or hard to take repeatedly.

real energy, not heavy

most of the 30g of carbs comes naturally as sugar from the maple syrup, dates, and berries. we do not add refined sugar or artificial sweeteners.

sugar from real food

we made it thinner so it is easier to swallow and easier on your stomach. most thick gels rely on gums and thickeners. we do not.

no gums needed

02INGREDIENTS

the core idea is simple whole-food carbohydrate plus sodium from ingredients that make sense.

organic maple syrup, organic medjool dates, organic berries, organic lemon juice, and unrefined mineral salt.

that is it. no gums, no preservatives, no “natural flavours”, and nothing you would not recognise.

simple on purpose.

no artificial colours. no artificial sweeteners. no fake performance fluff. no ingredient list that reads like a chemistry set.

the whole point is to remove the usual junk athletes have been trained to ignore.

if you would not want to explain it to your family, it should not be in the sachet.

dates give natural carbohydrates, help create a smoother glucose and fructose balance, and add body without needing gums or fillers.

dates release energy more slowly, while maple syrup is absorbed faster.

together, they give you both: quick fuel when you need it, plus a steadier release after, instead of one big spike and crash.

food should look like food.

maple syrup is a better source of fast fuel than most sports gels because it naturally contains both glucose and fructose.

that helps your body absorb more carbohydrate more efficiently, without needing artificial sugar blends or overly processed syrups.

fast fuel does not need to come from lab-sounding ingredients.

because sweat losses are real. sodium matters for fluid balance and helps keep long sessions from falling apart.

a gel without enough sodium can still give energy, but it is not doing the full job.

without enough sodium, you are more likely to cramp, fade, or struggle to keep taking in fuel.

fuel and hydration are not separate worlds.

no. we keep it shelf stable through aseptic processing and filling.

that means the gel is gently heat treated, then filled into the sachet in a sterile environment. it keeps the product safe and shelf stable without needing preservatives.

solve with process before adding more ingredients.

no. there are no gums, thickeners, or stabilisers in 2THRV.

the texture comes naturally from the dates and how the gel is made, not from adding fillers to fake the consistency.

texture is not a free pass for filler.

no. we do not use maltodextrin.

most sports gels are built around maltodextrin because it is cheap, highly processed, and easy to formulate with. we chose not to use it because we wanted the carbs to come from real food instead.

2THRV gets its carbohydrates from maple syrup and dates, which naturally provide both fast and slower-releasing fuel without relying on lab-made powders or syrups.

common is not the same as good.

yes. all of the sugar comes naturally from the maple syrup, dates, and berries.

the better question is where the carbohydrate comes from and what else comes with it.

2THRV is not trying to win a marketing game around the word natural. the goal is obvious ingredients, useful carbohydrate, and less nonsense.

we care more about ingredient quality than cute labels.

no. there is no caffeine in the gel.

we wanted to make a fuel you can use any time without relying on stimulants. if enough people want it, we may make a caffeinated version in the future, but it would still follow the same 2THRV standard: simple, effective, and no unnecessary ingredients.

caffeine should be chosen, not assumed.

each gel contains 30g of fast and slow digesting carbohydrates.

that is enough to give you meaningful fuel during training or racing without needing to take multiple gels at once.

the number matters. the source matters too.

each gel contains 250mg of sodium from unrefined mineral salt.

we use real mineral salt instead of isolated sodium additives, so you get the sodium you need without adding more processed ingredients.

a little sodium line on pack means nothing if it does not help on the road.

the gel does not contain any of the major common allergens like dairy, gluten, soy, nuts, or eggs.

that said, it is made in a facility that may handle other ingredients, so always check the packaging if you have a severe allergy.

always check the pack if you have allergies.

the berries and lemon keep the gel lighter, fresher, and less sweet. that matters when you are taking multiple gels in one session.

lighter, fresher taste

we use certified organic ingredients and choose them based on quality and function, not what is cheapest or easiest.

chosen for quality

03DIETARY

yes. 2THRV is vegetarian. in fact, it is fully vegan.

the pack is the final answer.

yes. 2THRV is completely vegan.

the gel is made entirely from plant ingredients: maple syrup, dates, berries, lemon, and mineral salt.

clarity beats broad claims.

yes. the gel does not contain any gluten ingredients.

however, if you have coeliac disease or a severe gluten allergy, always check the final packaging for any manufacturing warnings.

do not rely on guesswork for dietary needs.

yes. 2THRV is completely dairy free. there is no milk, whey, lactose, or any other dairy ingredient in the gel.

facility handling still matters.

yes. the gel itself does not contain any nuts.

however, it may be made in a facility that handles nuts, so check the packaging if you have a severe allergy.

allergy questions deserve exact answers.

we use certified organic ingredients, and our manufacturing facility is certified organic too.

the only reason 2THRV is not officially certified organic yet is because we are a new brand and the certification process takes time and investment. we expect that to come, but we are not going to claim it before it is true.

say what is true. nothing more.

yes, we probably have the only gel you would be comfortable feeding to your kid.

if they are old enough to safely eat and swallow a gel. it is made from simple food ingredients, but most kids do not need sports fuel unless they are active for a long time.

04USAGE

take a gel when you need quick, easy energy.

for most people, that means during sessions longer than 60–90 minutes, or before and during harder efforts. a good starting point is 1 gel every 20–30 minutes, depending on how long and hard you are going.

do not wait until you are already cooked.

most people should aim for 1 gel every 20–30 minutes during longer training sessions or races.

that gives you around 60–90g of carbs per hour, which is the range most research shows supports endurance performance. if you are training your gut and going longer or harder, some athletes can benefit from up to 120g per hour. the goal is to keep giving your body fuel before your glycogen stores run low.

fueling is a plan, not a panic move.

yes. you can take one 10–20 minutes before a run if you want some quick energy before you start.

it is especially useful before harder sessions, long runs, or if you are training early and have not eaten much.

simple fuel beats underfueling.

yes. the gel is designed so you do not need water to take it, think of a fluid gel.

that said, drinking water is always recommended if possible, especially during longer or harder sessions, to help with hydration and make sure your stomach keeps handling fuel well.

no-water capable is not the same as hydration solved.

it depends on the race and the rest of your plan.

most people will need around 3–6 gels for a half marathon and 6–10 gels for a marathon.

it depends on how long you are out there, how much you have trained your gut, and how aggressively you want to fuel.

the longer the event, the less room you have to wing it.

yes, if the total plan makes sense.

many brands openly frame gels as one tool inside a wider fueling system, not the whole plan by themselves.

the point is not loyalty to one format. the point is having enough usable carbohydrate and sodium for the work you are doing.

build the stack around the session, not the other way around.

yes, taking a gel will break your fast.

that said, we strongly recommend fuelling if you are training for more than 60 minutes. you will usually perform better, recover better, and avoid digging yourself into a hole for no reason. you can thank us later.

being hungry is not a training superpower.

yes. 2THRV is not just for running.

it works well for hard gym sessions, hyrox, long rides, team sports, or anything where you are training hard enough to burn through energy quickly.

it is not only for runners in split shorts.

effort is effort.

yes. you do not need to be racing to use it.

2THRV is useful any time you need quick, easy energy: hiking, travel, long work days, early mornings, or when you know you are going to be on the go for hours.

better pocket fuel still counts outside sport.

yes. beginners often benefit from gels even more because they are usually the ones most likely to under-fuel.

you do not need to “earn” fuel. if you are training long enough to need energy, you should use it.

good habits start early.

you do not need it every day, but you can use it whenever you need quick, easy energy.

for most people, that is before or during longer sessions, hard workouts, busy days, or anytime you know you are going to run low.

fuel tool, not meal replacement.

yes, but most people are better off spacing them out.

your body can only absorb so much carbohydrate at once. taking 1 gel every 20–30 minutes works better because it gives your body a steady flow of glucose and fructose, which can help you absorb up to around 90–120g of carbs per hour instead of flooding your stomach all at once.

the right dose beats the heroic dose.

yes. most people do best around 60–90g of carbs per hour. taking too much, too quickly can leave you feeling bloated or sick.

more is not always better

should be highly unlikely with our gel!

however if you do: slow down, take some water, and give your stomach a few minutes. most stomach issues come from taking too much, too fast, or using something you have not practised with.

slow down and reset

yes. 2THRV works well with electrolyte drinks or tablets. just keep track of your total carbs and sodium per hour.

works with electrolytes

05PERFORMANCE

no. the goal is the opposite.

because the gel combines faster carbs from maple syrup with slower energy from dates, you get a steadier release instead of one huge spike followed by a crash.

fuel should support the session, not hijack it.

that is one of the main reasons 2THRV exists. we made it to be as easy on the stomach as possible.

it is made from real food your body knows and recognises: maple syrup, dates, berries, lemon, and salt. no gums, no artificial sweeteners, and no unnecessary ingredients that can make fuelling harder on your stomach.

less nonsense in usually means less nonsense out.

for a lot of people, yes.

many GI issues come from gels loaded with maltodextrin, gums, artificial sweeteners, and overly processed ingredients. 2THRV is made from real food your body already knows: maple syrup, dates, berries, lemon, and salt.

that does not mean every stomach is the same. but if normal gels leave you bloated, nauseous, or with that heavy “gut rot” feeling, simpler ingredients are often easier to tolerate.

we solve from first principles, not from slogans.

yes, but do not make a full race switch blind.

test it in training first. then test it in race-specific sessions. then trust it when it has earned that trust.

never outsource race-day confidence to hope.

because you should train with what you plan to race with.

race day is not the time to try a different gel, different ingredients, or whatever happens to be at the aid station. if you know what works for your body, stick with it.

on-course availability is not the same as fit.

yes. 2THRV was designed for long sessions, hard efforts, and hot conditions.

it gives you 30g of carbs and 250mg of sodium in each gel, so you are replacing both energy and what you lose through sweat over time.

if it only works in perfect conditions, it does not really work.

the gel is designed to be close to a 1:0.8 glucose to fructose ratio, as per the latest research. that helps your body absorb more fuel with less chance of stomach issues.

better carb absorption

most gels are built around maltodextrin, gums, and flavourings. 2THRV is made from five real ingredients: maple syrup, dates, berries, lemon, and salt.

best price per gel.

08STORAGE AND SHELF LIFE

the shelf life is expected to be at least 12 months unopened.

we keep it shelf stable through aseptic processing and filling, not by adding preservatives. once opened, use it straight away.

real shelf life beats convenient shelf life.

store it in a cool, dry place away from direct heat or sunlight.

you do not need to refrigerate it, but leaving it in a hot car or in direct sun for long periods is probably not the best idea.

common sense still applies.

yes. you can refrigerate it if you want to.

just keep in mind it may get a little thicker when cold, so it is usually best to let it come back closer to room temperature before using it.

cold changes feel more than function.

yes, but there is usually no real reason to.

freezing may change the texture slightly once it thaws, so we recommend just storing it in a cool, dry place instead.

do not experiment with your race fuel the wrong way.

that is normal.

2THRV is made from real ingredients, so the colour or taste may vary slightly between batches depending on the fruit. the recipe stays the same.

real-food inputs are not printed in a lab.

09BRAND AND TRUST

that is non-negotiable. we test 2THRV in real training, not just in a lab.

every version is used in long runs, rides, hard sessions, and repeated back-to-back use to make sure it actually works when you are tired, hot, and moving.

if it has not been tested hard, it has not really been tested.

no. 2THRV is a performance brand.

we just do not believe you need to compromise your body to perform. if most “performance” products did not use junk ingredients, this would not even be a conversation.

performance built properly. not wellness cosplay.

because the category is full of vague filler words.

cleaner. healthier. natural. premium. those words mean nothing if you are still swallowing nonsense. 2THRV says what it means and leaves the soft-focus marketing to everyone else.

obvious beats polished.

we are not here to make fluffy halo claims.

the stronger claim is simpler: the ingredients should make more sense, the tradeoffs should be clearer, and the product should hold up under repeated use.

less theatre. more standards.

it means this is not about one workout, one race, or one short-term hit.

the product, the brand, and the standards are all built around repeat use over years. the goal is not just to perform today. it is to still be doing this years from now.

nothing we make should borrow from the future.

“for the uncompromising” means not settling for ingredients, products, or shortcuts you do not believe in.

it is for people who care enough to ask what is actually in something, and want performance without lowering their standards.

built for you

most gels are made from cheap syrups, gums, and flavourings. 2THRV is made from certified organic real food ingredients. that costs more, but we think it is worth it.

real ingredients cost more

because we tell you exactly what is in it and exactly what is not. no vague claims, no hidden ingredients, and no pretending or hiding behind “natural” when it is not.

full transparency

probably. we want to earn the right to make more products by getting the first one right. if we do, they will follow the same 2THRV standard.
